What did I wear today? #1

Recently I went to Modcloth's offices in San Francisco to do some market research for them. I chit chatted with them about the different things I liked and didn't like about their website and one of the things I really raved about was the street fashion section of their blog. I love fashion and have a subscription to Harpur's Bazaar, but high fashion is an art, you can't exactly wear a lot of those things. And it's nice to have a place to go to for wearable looks.

When I worked and went to school in NYC I used to fashion watch to see what people were doing. I'd get inspiration from little things (like the knee high socks or scarves with Spring dresses) and put my own spin on them the next time I had an outfit to wear. Right now I am generally trapped in the suburbs, and not only that, but I go to school. When you're in school high fashion is considered anything that doesn't involve sweatpants or a hoodie. I definitely have a few classmates who have some great outfits, but two or three is not enough to go on, so I really appreciate ModCloth's blog to show me what people are doing. The whole fashion section of their blog is great, outfit suggestions, fashion blogger's gear, and tons of things that let me feel connected to the fashion world.

So this got me thinking, I don't exactly run around San Francisco (at all, let alone with a camera looking to take pictures of people in outfits. Nor do I have the time to), but on occasion I do have a really nice ensemble put together. Since I don't mind putting myself out there, I figured I would start a section of the blog entitled, "What did I wear today?" It'll just be a quick shot of my outfit for the day to give you some inspiration for your own wardrobe.

I wore this outfit on Thursday (excuse the mess, it's been a hectic week, we did just get a new dog after all. You can actually see Charlie's rear end next to me behind me):

(Wow, lesson learned, wear make-up next time.)

Dress: My anniversary present last year from Nick. From BCBG.
Cardigan: Express circa 2006
Boots: EXTREME after Christmas clearance circa 2009 with a coupon from Lord and Taylor's (I think I got them around 80% off). Michael Khor's.
Bracelet: Vintage, was my mom's. I opted for a simple bracelet because the detail on the front of the dress is busy enough. No crazy necklaces, earrings, etc. needed.

Also, if you're looking for some last minute food ideas for the super bowl, might I suggest you check out my appetizer entry? I'm going to make the zucchini crostini for a party I'm going to. I think my mac and cheese is also a good bet as well. And maybe for dessert some blackberry crumble? Enjoy the game!

Thank you! I'm planning on wearing something cute tomorrow if I recover from today's soccer game (it requires heels).

Cute! Love the color combination--I'm trying to wean myself off of gray, so the turquoise/chartreuse/blue combo looks very fresh.
